We have a beautiful five bedroom, four bathroom cottage available for rent year-round in the Muskokas. Spanning over 3000 square feet, the cottage comfortably sleeps 12 and is perfect for two families sharing. Our large wrap around deck has no banister so you can enjoy uninterrupted lake views from anywhere inside or outside the cottage.
The cottage is laid out to optimise the sunshine throughout the day; the main living area has large windows and skylights capturing the light. The main living space is open plan with a communal atmosphere for hanging out, socialising and enjoying the quirky decor with flying pigs, flying elephants and vintage tin signs. Air conditioning available for those hot evenings; the cottage is also fully winterised so it's warm even on those chilly winter, spring or fall
The cottage has two separate living areas (or lounges) each with its own wood burning, fan-assisted fireplace. There is plenty of comfortable seating, dozens of DVDs for the whole family, many board games including croquenot, trivial pursuit, homemade "Don't Get Mad"/aggravation board, chess, monopoly, jenga and many more for grown-ups and kids alike. And if you fancy a good workout flinging yourself around, we also have a Nintendo Wii with games and accessories available for rent.
The grand well-equipped kitchen faces onto the lake making cooking for family and friends both sociable and pleasurable. The kitchen also doubles as a sunroom with an antique four-person oak table that extends to seat eight people. The dining room offers a stunning hand-made cedar harvest table with seating for 10-12. The dining table is our pride and joy and many a evening has been spent round the table enjoying good
food and socialising. The dining room has sliding doors leading to the great wrap around deck and views of the lake. Or if Al Fresco dining is more your style, there is a large hooded gas barbecue, large
table and seating outside on the deck, facing the lake of course :)
The stunning main bedroom is light and spacious with sliding doors opening on to the upper deck where you can take in wonderful views of the lake with its abundant birdlife. The bedroom has a king-size bed, a sitting area with skylights allowing the bedroom to be
bathed in light all year round and a three-piece en-suite bathroom. The landing leads to two more bedrooms: One has a cathedral ceiling bedroom and
two sets of child and adult-friendly bunk beds, sleeping four. The third bedroom has two twins (can be pushed to make a double) for singles or a couple and is a quiet room with windows looking out onto the forest. All of the bedrooms have large closets with plenty of storage. There is also a full bathroom upstairs, no need to tiptoe downstairs should nature call. On the ground floor we have two bedrooms and a large bathroom. One is a bright double bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a large closet. This bedroom is situated at the back of the cottage and is very peaceful and quiet. Opposite the large bathroom is a twin room with two beds that can be pushed together to make a double. This bedroom also has a large closet and chest of drawers for storage.
Interactive video games for the whole family with the Nintendo Wii: Have you been wondering whether the Wii is actually as fun as it looks? Imagine if, on a rainy summer day, or cold winter evening, you could play some ping pong, enjoy a little bowling with the whole family, or engage in a bit of air hockey fun to pass the time with whoops of joy instead of moans of boredom? We were skeptical at first too, but it turns out it really is a blast!
Indoor activities: many board games for those rainy days including croquenot, trivial pursuit, homemade "don't get mad" board, chess and monopoly. DVD library with dozens of movies to choose from for both children and adults.
Plenty of help with daily chores: large dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, fully equipped kitchen, and mud room with direct access to the outdoors door to keep the mess of outdoor fun contained!
The lakeside cottage is surrounded by forest making it a private, peaceful nature-lovers paradise. The large wrap around deck offers uninterrupted views of the lake and hosts the built-in hot tub open ALL year round where you can soak up the wonderful vistas as the seasons change. The cottage is fully winterised and ready for fun any of the four seasons; winter fun includes ice fishing, ice hockey on the inlet, snowmobiling (local rentals available), cross country
skiing, and snowshoeing. Fall arrives in amazing technicolour as the forest surrounding forest and forests across the lake turn all shades of red and gold.
Our great Outdoor Hot Tub is built in to the deck and is available ALL year round. It features both space and comfort; the multi-level seating, including a raised kids seat, ensures a favourite spot for everyone in the family; the circular design gives the hot tub a very large footwell, maximising seating
capacity and ensuring you won't be playing footsies with the neighbours. Features include dual jet
settings, individual controls, ergonomically designed seating, armrests, hand jets, floor jets, neck jets,
and built-in padded headrests. Gorgeous!
The huge wrap around deck has no banister to obscure lake side views and has plenty of space for hanging out and outdoor dining with a large glass table and plenty of seating. There is a large hooded gas barbecue for those al fresco cooking and dining evenings. Or laze on the hammock in the shade or gaze out over the lake in the swinging love seat. Steps
lead down from the deck to the generous beach for volleyball and sandy fun. An outdoor firepit provides the warmth of sharing marshmallows with family and friends as the sun sets.
One side of the lot opens onto forest, attracting a range of nature's best offerings including deer, loons, beavers, grey herons, and Canada geese to name a few.
Long, private driveway (400 feet) with lots of parking - no need to worry about parking spaces close to the cottage, everyone can have a good spot!
Plenty of Outdoor Toys:
Rental includes a canoe, a paddle-boat, 2 row-boats, volleyball, badminton, horseshoes and more.
Great fishing in Sparrow Lake off the dock or in the inlet. (Our inlet is very popular for winter ice-fishing!) Paddling from beach and some swimming from dock. Dock space for motor boats and local public launch. Nearby crown land available for further fishing and swimming.
In winter, the cottage is an ideal location for winter ice-skating, hockey playing, snowmobiling and ice-fishing.

Trenanthia cottage is a great getaway. Constant and great
communication between us and the cottage owner made our stay more
enjoyable. We had an amazing time sitting in the hot tub under the
stars and had great campfires while roasting marshmallows. The cottage
was fully equipped with everything we needed. One of the best cottages
we've stayed at. The pictures do not do it justice! This cottage was
truly a great getaway to relax and unwind. I would be more than happy
to recommend staying here to anyone!
-- Jessica R., Canada
We stayed in this lovely cottage on our way back from Algonquin Park
last summer. It's a really chilled house, on a quiet inlet off the
main lake. Our girls roasted marshmallows on the fire down by the
water while we enjoyed the great sunset over the lake. Loads of room
in fabulous homey cottage, quiet setting and friendly neighbours.
-- Clive G., England
What a beautiful cottage! We loved canoeing on the lake and up creeks
nearby and then well-earned relaxing in the hot tub. Lots of space
inside and out and very peaceful.
-- Claudia Z., Austria
"It doesn't get better than this."
Our group has now trusted our annual get-together to trenanthia for three years,
and it's been fantastic. we have a group of 16, and we've been doing this for 31
years, so the venue and atmosphere are of the utmost importance. trenanthia has
always been so accommodating to our truly unique needs, and hopefully we've
found a home for many years to come.

"A very special place."
We were delighted with Trenanthia Cottage. We arrived from Toronto on a cold
Friday evening in late November, and within an hour we were sitting around the
living room with the fire blazing, drinking wine and chatting as if we were at
home. The decor is beautiful and the cottage has a wonderful cozy feel.
Everything you need in terms of kitchen appliances / crockery / table settings
is there. It has the perfect balance of having your home comforts with all the
draws of going to a lakeside cottage.
The cottage was also extremely clean when we arrived and they provided ample
cleaning stuffs to leave the place as we found it.
The owners were very helpful and were in constant communication with us as we
planned our weekend. While we were there, the local Super checked in with us by
phone and in person to make sure the fires were working okay.
Overall, we had a terrific time and everything was perfect. We want to go back

"A forestry haven on a lake"
Having booked and seen pictures of Trenanthia Cottage online we were excited to
get there. What we found was more then we expected. The "cottage" is a mansion.
My kids loved it, exploring every nook they could inside and outside the house.
Talk about plenty of room. The inside of the cottage has great modern decor but
the outside is the wow factor.
There was 8 of us altogether. Two families with kids and there was plenty of
room to socialize or be alone. The lake was perfect for my kids to splash about
in in the shallows.
We had the local handyman check in with us to make sure everything was good and
up to our needs which was amazing. He was super friendly and helpful with
information on the local area.
We have recommended this place to a bunch of our friends one of who has already
booked it. We know they wont be disappointed!
The canoe, the volleyball, the peddle boat, all but a distance fond memory now.
I highly recommend this place for a great city get away for anyone. We'll be
back Trenanthia Cottage. Yes we will!!
-- The Good Citizens, Los Angeles
"A little piece of paradise"
If I was forced to give a criticism of Trenanthia Cottage, it would be that I
wasn't able to stay longer. Comfortable, well furnished and with every
convenience you could ask for, it's also in an idyllic location. There's nothing
quite like lazing in a hot tub while gazing out over a beautiful lake - the
experience was one of peacefulness and tranquility, mixed, of course, with some
wonderful evenings of friends and laughter. A couple of days there and you've
forgotten that city life ever existed, let alone are yearning for it. I'll be
going back next year - as soon as I can, in fact. Highly recommend Trenanthia
for a getaway with family or friends.
