Miles of fabulous hiking offer real insight into this ever-varied and unique Muskoka terrain. Real blueberry picking, photographic opportunities not found elsewhere. Observe beaver dams/lodges, heron nests, turkey vulture rooks, paddle into small bays to view turtles (some of them endangered) sunning themselves on logs, listen nightly to the infamous, seldom-seen Whippoorwill, be intrigued by the antics of the ruby-throated hummingbird - the only bird in the world to fly blackwards. Ultimate privacy and best OFF-LEASH dog holiday. Abundant wildlife viewing, including rare five-lined skink, turkey vultures nesting in cliffs. Unlimited bird activity plus moose, deer,etc.

INTERIOR DESCRIPTION

Above-ground, furnished suite on lower level of new cottage, soundproofed from (unoccupied)floor above. Lakeside room features sleeping (queen size)on one end, TV/entertainment/sitting area on other, overlooking lake with 7' window and patio doors. New stereo has IPod station. Works very well for a couple and their pup. Separate, large modern kitchen fully-loaded (dishwasher removed), 4-piece modern bath. Second private entry adjacent to kitchen. More private than conventional side-by-side cottage arrangement. My parking opposite end of cottage, up one level. No one stays upstairs May 1 to October 31. Rooms over rental suite not used during winter rentals. I,the owner camp way-out-of-sight on property May 1-October 31, the tent becomes my "cottage" since I live here year-round so also need to get away somewhere.

EXTERIOR DESCRIPTION

Private lakefront for rental use 40 steps down easy slope from door. Ankle-deep on sand to 40'deep. Fantastic swimming, diving from dock. South, east and west exposure; sun all day. Screened gazebo with hammock, table/chairs, reading lamp and hydro. Closest neighbour 1000 meters kiddie-corner across lake. Trans Canada Trail a private fifteen minute walk from cottage plus unlimited marked hiking trails in any direction. Amazing wetlands and granite flats. Great fishing and blueberry-picking. Incredible night sky - bring a telescope. Multi-access to OFSC snowmobile trails. Suit environmentally-considerate couple. Not toddler friendly. Cat lover however, please no cats.

ACTIVITIES NEARBY

Town of Gravenhurst a ten minute drive, most of that time just this driveway. Ontario's best farmers' market, Taboo golf plus others, Segwun and sister steamships, Torrance Barrens dark sky reserve, Norman Bethune home, KEE to Bala, Muskoka Wildlife Centre, Casino Rama, free (donation) very popular Sunday night Music-on-the-Barge at Gull Lake (Tanglefoot, The Good Brothers are examples). The drive-in theatre and bike trails five minutes away allow dogs. Any activity you wish to pursue is available in the vicinity.

RATE INFORMATION

High-season minimum weekly Cdn. $1100.00 double occupancy includes infant (no toddlers). Low-season minimum including winter one night $160.00 or weekly $900.00. Winter season rental possible, suit snowmobilers and other winter activity enthusiasts.
